Skin

As the largest and most visible organ of the body, the state of your skin reveals a lot about you. Not only does it provide a good indication of your overall health and wellbeing, having clear, radiant skin can make you feel more confident and attractive.

SKIN THROUGH YOUR LIFE

Your skin is constantly changing. Every day new skin cells are being created, and old cells are dying and being shed. In addition, your skin alters as you get older. This means that it looks and behaves differently at various stages of your life. Because of the changing nature of skin, certain conditions occur more frequently at same times than others. Understanding the phases through which your skin passes during your lifetime helps you to greet changes calmly and to be prepared when the problem arises.

USING HOME TREATMENT WISELY

There's also a lot you can do yourself to help your skin looks its best. Cosmetic companies have realized that skin care is big business, and there's an ever-growing array of products to improve the apprearance of your skin. By learning to care for your skin correctly, establishing a healthy lifestyle, and dealing with any problems early, you can keep your skin looking as good as possible for as long as possible!

  1. Understanding Your Skin

 Largest Living Organ

  • The skin is the body*s largest organ. It provides the first line of protection of the inner body.
  • What most people do not know is that another major function of the skin is to expel toxins.
  • In a day, your skin eliminates more than a pound of waste through sweat glands.
  • In fact, about one-third of all bodily impurities are excreted through the skin. This makes skin an essential and effective elimination organ.
  • When waste and sweat clog the pores, the skin can't do its job.
  • Instead of being released, toxins and excess fluids get absorbed back into the body, emerging as breakouts or worse - the toxins collect in our cells.
  • With our environment being more polluted than ever - the air we breathe, the water we drink and even the foods that we eat.
  • we need to allow the skin to do its job and help detoxify our bodies.

Thinnest Around Eye Area and Thickest On Sole & Palm

  • That is why our eyes will show the first sign of aging.

Generally, cells renew Every 28 Days

  • Skin produces over 5 billion skin cells every day. That*s about one million skin cells per minute.
  • New cells move from the lower layers of the epidermis up to the skin surface.
  • On a baby, fresh new cells reach the outer layer about every two weeks.
  • Generally, cells renew Every 28 Days.

As we age process slows down

  • By the time you are forty, it takes 40 days or more for the new cells to reach the surface.
  • This is why babies have such fresh-looking skin

 60% Water

  • Many factors can affect de-hydration, oxidation and pre-mature skin
  • Lotions and creams made with petroleum by-products (like mineral oil, petrolatum or other derivatives) clog the skin and block the excretion of toxins.
  • These toxins, instead of being expelled by the skin, must now be processed by the liver and kidneys - adding to their workload!

The skin must breathe 每 oily products reduce the skins ability to do so, effectively suffocating it # and accelerating the aging process.

Your skin doesn*t need excess oil 每 it needs moisture!!

Oil VS Water

Oil is not the same thing as moisture. Your skin doesn*t need oil 每 it needs moisture. This fact applies to all skin types, oily and combination included.

People with oily skin have often &dehydrated* their complexion through the use of inappropriate cleansers and harsh alcohols. The misconception is that this will &dry up* their oily skin. The reality is that it &dries up* the moisture in the skin, but leaves the oil behind. More often than not it also causes the skin to produce even MORE oil. The result is a pattern of oilier, yet drier skin.

The characteristics of this skin type are:

  • Shiny look, greasy feel
  • Noticeable blemishes,
  • Dry, whitish areas, usually near the blemishes
  • Some flaking of the skin

The same way that oil and moisture are not the same things IN your skin, they are not the same things in moisturizers either. Your skin needs hydration and moisture, not oil.

Look for HYDRATING INGREDIENTS and HUMECTANTS

... and make sure you avoid product made with 'skin suicide' ingredients

  1. Skin Suicide

Beautiful skin radiates from moisture. Yet the two most common skin-detrimental  ingredients, mineral oil and alcohol, have the opposite effect of moisturizing the skin. Oil encourages the skin to produce even more oil, and alcohol leads to dehydration.  This common &skin-care* combo actually speeds up the aging process.

Here's are SkinSuicide ingredients you should avoid at all costs!!!

  • Mineral Oils 每 it seals your skin

  • Petrolatum 每 hey! That's oil too!

  • Paraffin 每 another petroleum by-product

  • Lanolin 每 ewe... more oil

  • Isopropyl Alcohol 每 this is a harsh chemical, used to remove the oils and waxes that you should be avoiding in the fisrt place

Become a label reader!

Check the contents of skin-care products. See how many ※expensive§ brand-names contain &skin suicide* ingredients. You*ll be appalled at what ingredients &bargain brands* use !

MlNERAL OIL

is the cheapest, most universally-used ingredient in skin care. Made from petroleum, it cannot be absorbed by the body.  It "seals" the skin, clogs pores, attracts dirt and pulls essential trace minerals from the skin.  It must be removed with harsh alcohol. PETROLATUM, also called paraffin jelly or petroleum jelly, is also made from petroleum and is very similar to mineral oil.

ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL

(SD Alcohol)

is a harsh and poisonous solvent - that is also derived from petroleum. It is used to dissolve built-up wax and mineral oils on the skin - the ingredients of most skin-care products. It also dissolves the body's own natural moisturizers, leaving skin dry.  In fact, it destroys the skin's pH balance.

LANOLIN

Sounds nice, doesn*t it? It conjures up images of softness and fluffy lambs, don*t you think? Well don*t fall for it. Lanolin is among the worst things you can put on your skin.

Also called wool wax, lanolin is known for it*s ability to repel water and prevent water absorption. Lanolin does the exact opposite of what your skin needs! Your skin doesn*t need protection from moisture, it needs moisture to stay supple.

Additionally, lanolin, if not correctly processes, can contain many unexpected chemicals - whatever sheep are exposed to, chemically and environmentally.  These chemicals could be pesticides or antibiotics in their food or growth hormones injections, whatever the sheep are exposed to becomes part of their body becomes part of lanolin.

And you want this on your face ?

Think of it this way. Oil, like lanolin, suffocates your skin. Skin is your body's largest organ and it NEEDS to breathe. It can*t breathe when smothered.

Marketing whiz-kids have led people to believe that they must "seal" moisture in their skin. Unfortunately, "sealing in moisture" is a bad idea because your skin can't breathe. It is just like putting a plastic bag over your head. There is lots of moisture on the inside of the bag, but you can't breathe. Your skin must breathe to help eliminate waste material and toxins from your body.

So what are you supposed to do?

Read the ingredients on the label. If it they are not listed (are they trying to hide something?) on the container or its packaging, ask for it ! Use only products that hydrate your skin through use of humectants and that rejuvenate it with essential nutrients and antioxidants - use products that contain absolutely no lanolin, mineral oil or any petrochemical by-products.!

The skin-beneficial ingredients found in our products not only help retain your skin*s natural moisture, but also attract moisture from the environment and bind it to your skin !!
